Bitter - it is a unique drink particularly valuated and favourite in Lithuania.

Bitter has been produced in Lithuania since long ago. Various additives were used in order to predetermine the characteristics of spirit - the main component of bitter. Due to a large variety of components the characteristics of bitter perceptibly differ, however it is possible to single out three main groups:

• Juices of fruits and berries are used in order to grant flavour characteristics.
• Various herb cordials and distillates impart their flavour to julep.
• The complicated structure has been developed not only by infusion of fruit juice and extracts of herbs yet by alcoholic additives of other categories - wines or brandy.
